Realized I haven’t been on Tumblr in a loooooong time so just thought I’d post a little update for those who might care.
This summer has been fantastic in so many ways. I’ve been galloping horses at a training farm, making good money, doing something I’ve always wanted to do, and getting to ride young (and older) racehorses in the making. Many of the babies I’ve galloped since the beginning of the summer have recently left me to go off to Churchill and Saratoga - I feel like a proud mom. I’m very blessed to be doing what I’ve been doing. This week marks my last galloping (for now), as I will leave to go back to Georgia next Monday to get ready for my newest adventure, the Darley Flying Start program.
I’m excited to see my family and friends next week and be able to relax and recharge for the crazy beautiful adventure that is Darley Flying Start. I will be heading off to Ireland the 17th of August and will be there for three months. Over the two years I’ll be in Ireland, England, Kentucky, Australia, and Dubai. I’m so honored to have been chosen for this program - I still have to pinch myself that this is real…and it still probably won’t hit me until I am on the plane to Ireland haha.
With my job being so physically demanding this summer, I haven’t crossfitted or worked out really since the beginning of June. Whaaaaaaaat?! I know. Crazy. But when you’re galloping up to 13 horses a day, I gotta be honest, you don’t HAVE to workout because that IS your workout. It’s AWESOME. Now, I miss lifting a ton, and I’ll be back into it once I get back to Georgia (no racehorse riding there. sad.), but it’s been a nice mental break this summer for me.
Leaving Kentucky next week is going to be very, very bittersweet. I miss my family and home a ton so I’m excited to go back, but I can’t even say how amazing this summer has been yet again. The good thing is I’ll be back next January, so I won’t be away from My Old Kentucky Home for too terribly long :)
Here’s to a great last week galloping and a great time back at home!
