A Concoction of Fun Things

I am a NCAA Equestrian athlete, completely obsessed with CrossFit, a lover of the horse racing industry, and I appreciate any little things that can bring a smile to my face. Yes, my URL is a joke from my favorite show of all time, Scrubs. Follow me on twitter @brittlanwall

Ask me anything

A little Spealspiration.

The WOD today was a gasser, and it was just me and another guy doing it together.

WOD:

5 rounds, alternating exercises on the minute.

15 unbroken KB swings (70lbs)

15 fast GHSU

Basically on the first minute we’d do KB swings, then at the top of the next minute we’d do the GHSU and alternate that for 5 rounds.

…then, when the clock hits 10 minutes (all the KB swings and GHSU are done), complete 50 box jumps (24”) then run 400 m.

Coach said that whichever one of us lost we’d have to do a full fledged 1 minute airdyne sprint (THOSE ARE NOT FUN LET ME JUST SAY).

I was about 5 box jumps behind the guy I was working out with when he took off running. I was completely on empty because of some poor nutritional choices this morning and last night, and I literally thought I was going to pass out. I started catching my breath a little bit on the 400 m run, but the guy was still a good 70 yards ahead of me. As I’m trailing him going back up the hill to the gym, I am not lying when I say this, I thought…

“What would Spealler do?”

100% serious. I knew that if Spealler was in this position he wouldn’t let fatigue get the best of him, he would fight for every last step of that 400m run and give it everything he had. That thought gave me a second wind for the next 30 seconds and I ended up catching the other guy in a full out sprint and WON the WOD :)

I then proceeded to hyperventilate because I had not properly fueled for today’s WOD, but that’s besides the point. I felt like Spealler today, and it felt awesome. The man is an inspiration, hands down.
